The Word Was Made Flesh..."

From the Gospel According
to Saint John 1:14

Brother Ben Howard-Dawsonville, GA
Saint John, chapter one, verses one, two, and
fourteen: “In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was
in the beginning with God. And the Word was made
flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full
of grace and truth.”
The emphasis for the main thought, “And the Word
was made flesh,…” will be obtained from Saint John,
chapter one, verse fourteen. However, as with all the
messages, many scriptures from the Bible connect our
chain of thought. Therefore, we will use various
other scriptures, and will refer to them by location
in the Bible.
As with many other messages we bring to you in
printed form, the wording of the scripture serves as
an additional help in understanding the depth of the
Word of God. Please note in the scripture we have
just read the words with God and was God. Noting the
word with we will be able to draw upon a deeper
meaning further in the message. We will discover how
“the Word made flesh” can be a reality for our time in
spiritual history. We will find that “the Word made
flesh” is a spiritual action, with true believers
participating in the important action of the Word
BEING made flesh! Also, the same can be noted for the
word was. Referring to the original Hebrew meaning,
the “..Word..” was a “thought.” We know that we have
to think something before we say it. The thought
becomes our word that we speak and often becomes our
action next! Therefore, in the beginning was the
LOGOS, the thought of God. I realize when we speak of
God thinking, or having thoughts, we tend to say
within ourselves how strange it seems to even refer to
Almighty God functioning in a human-type manner and
actually having thoughts. We need to remember,
however, although God is totally spirit form, and He
appeared only in human body form through the Lord
Jesus Christ, God has contained within Himself every
human-type emotion, feeling, action, and any other
human-type aspect! Therefore, because He is God, He
can certainly manifest every human-type act, including
having a thought and acting upon the thought. The
thoughts from the mind of God were manifested. A
deeply revealing reminder of this can be found in
Ephesians 1:4—“According as he hath chosen us in him
before the foundation of the world, that we should be
holy and without blame before him in love:” By
choosing “us in Him before the foundation of the
world,” God thought of us, and manifested His action
of that thought. God was manifesting His thought even
before we were presented on the earth in physical and
human bodies! Yes, this is indeed a deep and
thought-provoking idea; yet, with a Holy Ghost
anointed mind, we are able to see and accept the Truth
of this revelation. Not only was Jesus Christ, the
Word, with God in His thoughts, but we also were
there, even with Jesus Christ, in the thoughts of
God! God, the Eternal Spirit, dwelt alone; yet He had
His thoughts. The scripture from Saint John 1:1 can
have a clearer and more valuable meaning to us now,
after understanding that God had thoughts, and “In the
beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,…”
There was nothing in the beginning but God and His
thoughts, or His Word. God’s thoughts were with Him.
He thought about His plan. Yes, once again, to many
this will appear to be unusual, - speaking of God in
such human-type terms as thinking thoughts. A
reminder, however: God has contained within Himself
every human-type aspect that we can understand. After
all, He is God, and with God all things are possible!
(Matthew 19:26, Mark 10:27, and Luke 18:27.) “That in
the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be
established!” (Matthew 18:6)
God had a plan, much like we would plan out the
activities of our next day. Many times we will lie in
bed at night and think upon the next day, and place in
order in our thoughts our plans for the next day.
Taking into consideration that God Himself had a plan
will give us hope and trust in a God who wanted to
have an elected Bride, and desired for Her to have the
best plan. Truly, He planned for us, as the Bible
verifies to us His knowledge of us and His plan for
us. Acts 15:18—“…Known unto God are all his works
from the beginning of the world.” This verse of
scripture was part of the conversation concerning
Gentiles, and the fact that the Jews could not
understand how the heathen Gentiles could be a valid
addition to the kingdom of God. Seeing in New
Testament scriptures the manner in which the Gentiles
were brought into the plan of salvation, and the
Kingdom of God, gives us even greater proof that we
were in the very thoughts and plan of God before the
foundation of the world! Knowing that God made a plan
for us, the Gentile Bride, before the foundation of
the world should give us the overwhelming desire to
praise Him and place Him first in our lives! “...And
the Word was made flesh,..” We were there in His
plan. And the Word is still being made flesh because
the plan is not yet finished! Praise God! When we
look at each other, as believers, we are looking at
the Word made flesh! You were in God’s thoughts and
now He is bringing those thoughts to life and into
being! You were with Him in the beginning, and this
teaching will begin to bring spiritual strength as we
progress with our understanding! Many times we refer
to certain foods as being very rich, and they taste so
good to us. We comment on the richness of certain
desserts, and how delicious they are. The strength of
this “..Word made flesh” teaching will certainly be
rich and full of strength as we continue to understand
the value!
“..In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God.” Remember, the word
with is very important for our understanding. There
was God, and with Him were His thoughts. As God
thought it out, and planned it out and settled it, His
Word became part of Him, --AND the ‘WORD’ WAS God!
