Possessing the Kingdom of God
|
|
By Ben Howard
Please turn with me to the fifth chapter of the Book
of Galatians; I would like to read here to begin our
message. We’re going to be speaking on the thought,
“Possessing the Kingdom of God.” We want to
go into what the kingdom of God is, and contrast it
with the kingdom of Heaven. The Word of God speaks
much about the kingdom of Heaven, and also it speaks
about the kingdom of God. Now the kingdom of Heaven
is spoken of in an external way, but the kingdom of
God is within you. It’s an internal thing. “It
cometh not, Jesus said, with observation.” There’s
nothing about it that you can see with your natural
eye; you can only see the results of what the Spirit
of God is doing in the kingdom of God. The kingdom
of Heaven is the worldly atmosphere of the church.
Therefore, there can be things in the kingdom of
Heaven that’s not in the kingdom of God. So we want
to look at it from that standpoint. We’ve come
through the seven church ages, a time known as the
kingdom of Heaven. The church down through the ages
has used these titles to baptize converts, “I
baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy Ghost,” without ever calling
the name. Much of the time no one knew what the name
was. They just assumed Father was a name, and Son
was a name, and Holy Ghost was a name, but after you
really see the truth of it, you wonder why you ever
assumed that was ever a name. The Bible clearly
states that there is no other name given under
heaven whereby man must be saved, except the name of
Jesus Christ? That’s the family name. That’s the
only name that’s important to the children of God.
In the kingdom of Heaven age that was acceptable to
God, because in the kingdom of Heaven age it was
acceptable to God for wheat and tares to grow side
by side…, but in the kingdom of God there are no
tares. There have never been any tares in the
kingdom of God, because that is a spiritual thing
that God does within you. There’s a Spiritual
kingdom in the earth today, and as the kingdom of
Heaven ran its course, then the kingdom of God once
again will come into preeminence, just as it was in
the early church before the church ages started. Now
the church ages started, which is the kingdom of
Heaven age about 53 A.D. That’s when Paul went into
Ephesus and the church ages began. There were seven
ages, and seven church age messengers, they came and
the last messenger has come and gone. It is promised
that we will be returned back to the original Word,
which puts us in the kingdom of God. So, my thought
is, “Possessing the Kingdom of God.”
