Their Mystery and Our Mystery

Message Transcribed and Edited
From Audio Tape #78
Delivered January 07, 1984
By Brother Ben Howard

We see things taking place today that the Word of God said would come. One of the main signs for this end-time is that Israel would be back in the homeland after being scattered into all nations for twenty-five hundred years. Another sign is that He has brought His church back into the homeland, [back to] the Word of God. The Word of God teaches that He gave some apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints, and I see that taking place. I can see the Lord Jesus coming right among us moving and speaking, and it is good. It has been a great pleasure serving God the greater part of my life. There is nothing in the world that satisfies more. In the Lord Jesus Christ there is peace, there is rest, there is all that we need. I thank God that He called us with a Holy Calling to stand and minister the Word of God.

I would like to take this opportunity to greet the people that hear the message on tape, [or in book form, or on the internet.] I want to speak personally to each one to let you know that we appreciate your support of the ministry and how you've stood with us in your prayers, letters and finances. We thank God for you. Some of you we may never meet, but we trust to live in eternity with you, and may God bless you. Now, if you would please turn with us to the Book of Ephesians. (Note: If there is something that you don't understand that is said in this message, please ask. We will be glad to talk with you about anything. Not that what we're saying will be all that strange, but if you're not accustomed to hearing this type of message, please don't hesitate to ask questions and we will certainly try to explain further anything that you might not see clear from the Word of God.) Please bow your head in prayer before we approach the Word.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, we thank you for your love, your goodness, and mercy upon us. As we look back over the years, we can say as it was said in days of old that God is a good God. You are good to us and your mercy endureth forever. We thank you, Lord, for granting us the privilege to be an ambassador for Christ; to stand and speak for you in this unbelieving generation where there is not much faith, but there are a few people that still hold on to the true Word of God and still believe that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I thank you, Lord, that we happen to be among those that believe. We pray that you will put the Holy Anointing upon us. Your Word says that even the angels desire to look into the anointing of God. Sometimes we don't understand how you can take our minds and anoint us and give us things to say. I pray for the sake of the Bride of Christ and for the plan of God and the work of God that you will help us in this hour to speak words that will benefit your people. We will be careful to praise you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Please turn to Ephesians 2:14. I want to read several scriptures, and I hope you don't get weary from the reading of the scripture, because, after all, it is the scripture that has eternal life. I can say something that could be wrong. I could sincerely look at something and say, “I feel it is this way,” or “I feel it is that way,” and my feelings can be wrong, but the Word of God can never be wrong. It is right from cover to cover. Not one word of His good promise will ever fail.

I want to speak on a subject and title it, “Their Mystery and Our Mystery.” Paul is speaking in the scripture what we are getting ready to read about, a “mystery of God” that the early church had, and that the early church was built around. They had a mystery. In Revelation, chapter 10, verse 7, it reads that in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he begins to sound, the mystery of God should be finished. So Paul revealed a mystery to the church in his day, and we have had another messenger in this hour come and speak to this generation and reveal some hidden mysteries of God that has been hid since the foundation of the world. Praise God, we are living in Bible days again, aren't we? Christ is made known to the church. Christ is real to the church, and Christ is right in the church and by one Spirit we are baptized into one body. There are things that God is still revealing from His Word.

Someone gave me a little paper that says, “Man hides what is his in order to conceal it. God hides what is His in order to reveal it.” There are some hidden mysteries that are going to be revealed. God ordained a man named Paul to reveal a mystery to the church. Paul, in the mystery that he revealed to the church, did not reveal all the Bible to the church. Paul said very little about the millennial reign, or about the eternal age, but he did have a specific place in God's program and he was ordained to do a certain thing, and he did his job well. So may God help us now as we read the Word of God. Ephesians 2:14—“For He is our peace (speaking of Christ), who hath made both one, and hath broken downthe middle wall of partition between us;” When it says ‘between us' Paul is speaking about the Jews and Gentiles. In that day, prior to the coming of Christ, we know the Gentiles were counted as heathens, as dogs; but Paul brought a revelation to the church that changed the whole make-up of Christianity all the way down to the age that we are living in now.

Now, Paul says, “He's our peace; He has broken down the middle wall of partition between us.” Verse 15—“Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace;” He made of Himself twain. Now, twain means two. There were Jews and Gentiles, but He has broken down the middle wall of partition, so that in Christ Jesus there is neither Jew nor Greek, there's neither bond nor free; we're all one in Jesus Christ by the revelation of the mystery of God. We're one in Him. Now here's what he said Christ did, verse 17—“And came and preached peace to youwhich were afar off, (He was speaking to the Gentiles in his day, because they worshipped heathen gods, idol gods. They worshipped the works of their hands. Only the Jews had a true revelation of God. Then here came one named Jesus. He came and preached peace to them that were afar off. Paul brought this (revelation to the church), and to them that were nigh.” In other words, to the Jew and Gentile there is salvation in Christ.
